The Eisbach River in Munich's English Garden is a popular place for surfers from around the world. (The bridge crossing over the river as well as the river banks are quite popular for onlookers as well.) Although the water is cold year round, the river is known for being among the best locations for river surfing - especially surfing in an urban river! It's the combination of wetsuits worn by the surfers and a 1980s man made change to ensure a more consistent current that allow year-round river surfing on the Eisbach.
