Willemstad is home to both the Caribbean island of Curacao's capitol and its major port. For cruise ship passengers, it's a short walk to the Rif Fort, a 19th century historic fort which has been restored and is now a part of the Renaissance Mall. The area has plenty of shopping and dining options plus views from the fort. Those ready for a little more exercise can cross the Queen Emma Bridge, a pontoon bridge, to see the city's colorful buildings and find an even bigger selection of retail stores.

Social Media Description

We had enough extra time after our snorkel excursion to stroll around both the port area and the city of Willemstad in Curacao.

Fun fact: Even before crossing the Queen Emma Bridge, everyone notices the brightly colored buildings of Willemstad. It's that feature and more that helped the city earn status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
