Tarangire National Park, the "Little Serengeti"

Often referred to as the " Little Serengeti", Tarangire National Park is most famous for its herds of elephants and quirky looking "upside down" Baobab trees. But, that's not all that safari enthusiasts will see while game driving through the national park. If a less crowded game drive has any appeal at all, Tarangire may be just the national park for you to add to your safari itinerary. With its unique atmosphere, the park is large, has a different (more lush) feel and is a favorite of many safari-goers.

In addition to the herds of elephants for which Tarangire National Park is most famous, we captured some decent photos of monkeys, impalas (see the sequence of a "play fight"), red-and-yellow barbets, zebras, wildebeests, jackals, ostriches, lions, baboons, giraffes and eland.
