Gibraltar | British Overseas Territory | Gibraltar Nature Reserve | Upper Rock Nature Reserve | Rock of Gibraltar | St. Michael's Cave
It is estimated that there are more than 150 caves inside the Rock of Gibraltar. The most visited is St Michael's Cave, found in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. Fun fact: When creating an additional entrance into the cave in the 1940s, another set of caves was discovered. Referred to as either New St. Michael's Cave or Lower St. Michael's Cave, this more natural cave can only be explored on a guided tour - safety helmets required!

Had fun exploring St. Michael's Cave during our day at the Gibraltar Nature Reserve. (I was intrigued by the legend that said that there was a passage under the sea that connected Africa to St. Michael's Cave inside the Rock of Gibraltar ... and that's how the Barbary Apes got to The Rock!)
