Feel the Size as You Enter the Palace of the Grand Masters

The Palace of Grand Masters of the Knights of Rhodes, located on the Street of the Knights in the Walled City, dates back to the 14th century. As you enter the interior courtyard, you will be standing among statues dating back to the Greek and Roman periods and you will immediately feel the massive size of the structure. The grand staircase leading into the palace will likely be one of the largest that you've ever stepped foot on. Today, 24 of the nearly 160 rooms are open for self-guided touring. You won't want to miss the amazing mosaics adorning the floors in many of the rooms.

What are some of the most memorable palaces that you have visited?

Before arriving in Rhodes, I never imagined that the Palace of Grand Masters might make that list! We were not originally planning to tour this building that served as the home to the governor during medieval times, but had an extra hour, so why not. Tourists have access to only a small part of the palace, but some of the furnishings and mosaics are truly unique.

Do you have any favorite palaces?
