Honey is a Fine Mascot for Trossachs Woollen Mill

Meet Honey, one of the "mascots" of Trossachs Woollen Mill. The Heilan Coo (or Highland Cow) is a unique breed of cattle that originated in Scotland. It's the combination of the cow's long shaggy hair plus their long horns that make them a sight to see. Sometimes referred to as Hairy Coos by the locals, this breed is the oldest registered breed of cows in the world!

Has a unique animal that you've seen while traveling ever made you want to learn more about the breed?

I just fell in love with the Heilan Coos (Highland Cows) in Scotland. We saw several of them during a day long bus tour from Glasgow to Edinburgh and I couldn't get enough of them. I've since learned that Heilan Coos have made their way to other places in the world, but I've only seen them in Denmark and Scotland!

Fun fact: The long hair which covers the cow's face provides year round protection to the cows. During the winter, it helps to prevent wind and rain from getting in the eyes of the cow. During the summer, it's much harder for insects to bother the cows!
