Remnants from the Kalinagos on St. Kitts

One example of petroglyphs found in the Caribbean are those known as the Kalinago Rock Carvings located a short distance from St. Kitts' Wingfield Estate. The Kalinagos (or Caribs) lived on St. Kitts before the first Europeans inhabited the island. Although there is no certainty as to what the carvings actually represent (they've been painted white so they can more easily be seen), some believe that they might be fertility symbols.

Social Media Description

A benefit of the island tour was making stops at some off the beaten path locations on St. Kitts - like the site of the petroglyphs left by the Kalinagos (or Caribs) before the island was settled by Europeans.
