When most people think of Kansas City, Missouri, the picture that comes to mind is a downtown city area with skyscrapers. By heading to the area of KC known as the Northland, you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and go back to nature. No matter if you are hiking or biking, you'll enjoy your time in the "country" on the paved Line Creek Trail.

What hiking trails have you found that are in the midst of a big city?
When traveling, we still try to hit our personal daily step goals. While visiting family in Kansas City, Missouri, we enjoyed taking a morning hike along Line Creek Trail - before it got too hot. The 8+ mile (one-way) paved trail crosses over bridges and is shaded by trees on both sides for much of the distance. There's even a creek with a small waterfall. We are pretty sure that the jeep that we watched turn around as it approached the cascade while driving in the creek wasn't really supposed to be there!
Do you have a favorite hiking trail near your home city?
