Time for a hike in New Zealand's Waikato region? If you are near the town of Waipa, there's a loop trail that's just under one mile in length at the Maungatautari Scenic Reserve. The hike is in the reserve's northern enclosure and getting there from the parking area in front of the Maungatautari Marae requires an uphill hike of about the same length. You'll know you are near the entrance when the cows on the private farmland start watching your every move!

These cows (and their many friends) appeared to be watching our every move as we approached the hiking trail located adjacent to their pasture. We had no plans to step on their private land, but if we did, I'm pretty sure we would have changed our route based on the way that they were staring us down!
