Gibraltar's Tower of Homage (aka Moorish Castle) dates back to 1160. Because of its prominent location on the hillside and the flags towering above, the castle is one of the most recognized structures on The Rock. After suffering significant damage, the castle was rebuilt in the early 14th century and restored even more recently. Don't miss the opportunity to see damage done to the walls of the castle during the various conflicts that occurred after rebuilding.

We couldn't miss noticing the Moorish Castle when in Old Town Gibraltar, but the only way to actually explore the castle interior was with a ticket to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.
Fun fact: The castle was used as a prison until 2010.
We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. - Jawaharial Nehru
