Afternoon Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater

As you descend to the grassy floor of Ngorongoro Crater on a game drive, anticipation gets the best of you as you wonder what animal species you will encounter. It is estimated that over 25,000 animals call the crater home. With its tall surrounding walls, some even compare the crater to a zoo.

Social Media Description

After leaving the crater viewpoint, we headed down into the crater for an afternoon game drive. It's amazing to see how so many different animal species can share the same land. Among others, we spotted wildebeest, various species of gazelle, zebras, buffalo and golden jackals.

Fun fact: The crater is said to get its name from the sound that the cow's bells make - "ngoro ngoro"!
