Searching for Falling Water on the Isle of Kauai

When exploring the eastern side of Kauai, Hawaii, a stop at the Wailua overlook with views of Opaekaa Falls is a must do. Water falls over 150 feet from the top of the mountain into a pool so far below that most people can't even see it. While you're there, make sure to use the crosswalk to get over to the smaller overlook on the opposite side of the road. From there, you'll get a peak at the Wailua River and surrounding valley.

What's your favorite waterfall and where is it located?

When visiting the Hawaiian islands, I always enjoy finding beautiful waterfalls - like Opaekaa Falls on Kauai.

Fun fact: The name "Opaekaa" means "rolling shrimp". (Yes, shrimp sometimes fall along with the water into the pool below!)

Are you a waterfall hunter?
