California | Pinnacles National Park | Bear Gulch Reservoir | Moses Springs Trail | Hiking | Rock Climbing | Cave Exploration
Located in central California, Pinnacles National Park is the newest and smallest of the state's national
parks. Pinnacles gets its name from the tall pinnacles (rock formations) at the site of what is a now
extinct volcano. A just under one-mile long one-way hike along Moses Spring Trail leads to Bear Gulch
Trail and the Bear Gulch Reservoir. See rock climbers along the way, explore a cave if you dare and
enjoy the reservoir before looping back to your starting point.

What do you do when you drove 2 1/2 hours to get somewhere but there's no parking?
We left San Francisco in the morning so that we could do a little hiking in Pinnacles National Park on
our way further south. We knew that the park got crowded at times, but never thought that there
would be no parking when we arrived in late morning. We only had this one day available, so we
decided to just wait it out. We spent close to an hour waiting at a parking lot near the trailhead until
finally we were next up when someone left. After our long wait, our time in the park was even more
limited - but our hike along the Moses Springs Trail was a good choice.

How long would you wait for a parking place?
