Marche Couvert: A Short Walk from Guadeloupe's Cruise Port
Grand Terre is the largest of the islands comprising Guadeloupe, the furthest south of the Leeward Islands. Cruise ship passengers typically dock at Pointe-a-Pitre, the main city on the island. Walking distance from the cruise port, shoppers will find a variety of retail stores, street vendors and the Marche Couvert (a market selling foods, drinks and spices plus locally made souvenirs and more). There's also some cool architecture on the surrounding streets. NOTE: The main currency on the island is the euro!

Social Media Description
Since this was our first visit to Guadeloupe, we did some research before disembarking the ship. We found a recommended spot for snorkeling and we had our snorkel gear - so it seemed like a good match. The downside was that getting there required both a taxi and ferry ride. The island of Guadeloupe is a region of France, so the island's currency is the euro. On our way to an ATM, we checked out some of the architecture and Marche Couvert, the local market.
