For anyone who enjoys panoramic views, the optional climb up the spiral staircase inside Santuario di Madonna di San Luca is well worth the nominal fee. Known as the San Luca Sky Experience, the dome is said to be the "highest visitable dome in Europe". After climbing the 110 steps to the outdoor viewing platform, soak in the 180 degree views of the city of Bologna along with its surrounding hills from above.
