The Santa Teresa neighborhood located on the hill with the same name in Rio de Janeiro has become a popular place for tourists. The neighborhood dates back to the 18th century when a convent was built in the area. Although parts of Santa Teresa are in need of restoration, the restaurants, art studios, street art and awesome viewpoints attract both visitors and locals from all around.

Have you had the opportunity to explore Rio de Janeiro?
We lucked out with an awesome guide during our 2-night 2018 port visit. We saw most of the well known tourist sites, but also got to go off-the-beaten path to lesser known places typically only visited by the locals. One of the neighborhoods that we explored first as a group and then had some on our own time was Santa Teresa. It's now a place where both locals and visitors go since it has some great restaurants ... and also great street art!
