Malaysia's Oldest Roman Catholic Church Stands in Melaka

The oldest still functioning Roman Catholic church in Malaysia is found in the historical city of Melaka. The Church of St. Peter was originally built in the year 1710. The architecture, church interior and outdoor pool are not to be missed. An alabaster statue of Jesus Christ stands outside of the church's Passion Room. One of the newest additions is the outdoor pool and fountain where you can see the symbolism representing a man walking on water.

The city of Melaka is about a two hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, the embarkation port for our first cruise of the year. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we devoted one of our days to exploring the historical city. Our first stop on the full-day tour that we selected was at the Church of St. Peter.
