The oldest botanical garden in the western hemisphere was founded in 1765 and is located in Kingstown, St. Vincent (the largest island within the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines). For those traveling by cruise ship, the gardens are just under a 1.25 mile walk from the port. In addition to the large variety of tropical flowers, there is an aviary in the gardens which is home to the St. Vincent parrot, the country's national bird.

After researching what to do during our port visit in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, we settled on the St. Vincent Botanical Gardens. Our ship was docked in Kingstown, so we could get some exercise in by walking a little over a mile each way - plus our steps exploring the gardens!
Fun Fact: There are several trees that were planted in the gardens by members of the British Royal Family - most recently by King Charles III.
