New Zealand | North Island | Waikato | Tirau | Road Trip | Corrugated Iron | Sculptures | Art | Sheep | Ram
Anyone road tripping in New Zealand between the cities of Auckland and Taupo or Rotorua and Hamilton will likely pass through Tirau. The community is quite small, but has seen notoriety since being dubbed the "Corrugated Capital of the World". In addition to structures built to resemble a sheep and a ram, you'll find more fun pieces of corrugated art plus shops, restaurants and more.

What unique roadside attraction has recently caught your eye?
On our way south from Auckland, we passed by these buildings made of corrugated iron, a common building material in New Zealand. The weather was dreary and we didn't have time to stop. Fast forward four days and we were driving northwest when we again passed through Tirau. It was a sign that we had to stop to snap some photos!
