The largest totem pole in Ed Galloway's Totem Pole Park was under construction for over 10 years. At 90 feet tall, the 9-story totem pole stands atop a large turtle. Construction of the park, located in Foyil, Oklahoma several miles off of Route 66, began in 1937 and was not completed until 1961. Although Mr. Galloway was a proficient wood carver, the totem poles in the park were constructed of concrete.

It seems that most of the oddities that we've found on the roadside are relatively low. The centerpiece of Totem Pole Park, located about 40 minutes northeast of Tulsa in Foyil, Oklahoma, is quite the opposite. It stands approximately 9 stories tall and is surrounded by several other pieces of folk art of varying heights.
