Located about a 90 minute drive from the Munich airport is a small town named Vilshofen an der Donau. "Vilshofen" is less than 15 miles up the Danube from Passau, Germany. It's a quaint Bavarian town that is just steps away from the Danube River and can easily be explored on foot. Stroll through the historic Old Town, see the stadtturm (city tower) which dates back to the early 1300s as well as the Church of St. John.

Rather than docking in Regensburg, the Monarch Queen stopped in Vilshofen, Germany due to the river conditions on the Danube. We explored the "replacement" port on our own rather than taking a bus ride to and tour of our originally scheduled port city!
