Walking the Walls Surrounding the Old Town of Rhodes

For just three hours each afternoon, visitors to the Walled City of Rhodes can "walk on the walls"! Starting at the Grand Master's Palace, the walk takes you part way around the medieval town. The walk above the city gives you a completely different view than the one you'll see by wandering through the streets below. As you begin your walk, one of the first things you'll notice is the size of the walls - they are both very tall and very wide!

Social Media Description

Of the walled cities that you have visited, where have you taken the opportunity to actually walk on the walls?

The most recent addition to our list was Rhodes, Greece during our fall cruise in the Mediterranean. We started with the view from the "floor" as we wandered the streets of the walled city. Then, later in the day, we got the bird's eye view of the city as we walked atop the walls. Pictures of the gates and towers from both levels sure look different ... plus you don't usually see the artillery firing posts from down below!

Have you ever walked the fortifications around a walled city?
