White Sands National Park | New Mexico | Exploring the Southwest | Sand Dunes | White Sands | Gypsum
White Sands National Park has miles and miles of sand dunes made of gypsum sand. It is rare to find sand dunes from gypsum which actually dissolve in water. Another interesting thing about the sand in this national park is that the dunes migrate and disburse. In time, they may be gone - just like the sands of an hourglass!

Have you ever sledded on a sand dune?
White Sands National Park was recently promoted! We loved our day exploring the amazing white sand - before its promotion from a National Monument to a National Park. We had plans to return earlier this year which, of course, were interrupted like so many other plans. Hopefully we can make it back before the year comes to a close ... we'll bring sleds for our next visit!
