Enjoy the Windmills of Mykonos

One of the most iconic symbols of Mykonos, the Greek island, is the windmills. It is said that there were nearly 30 windmills around the island, some dating back to the 1700's. (The power of the wind was used to grind wheat in order to produce flour.) Some of the picturesque windmills still stand today - and, if you visit at the right time, you can even go inside two of them!

Have you ever tried to learn the language of a place that you will be visiting?

Opa! That's the extent of our knowledge of the Greek language ... but we still had a great time on Mykonos! We are definitely looking forward to our next chance to visit the Greek Islands.

The pathways in the main town area of Mykonos are all at weird angles making them fun to explore. The windmills are very picturesque, so we couldn't miss making a photo stop. We actually rented a scooter so it was easy to explore all over the island. We even made it to some of the beaches on the opposite side from the cruise ship port. Although there wasn't much happening since our visit was during the off-season, it was still fun to get to the beach!

What languages have you learned (or started learning) prior to traveling to a new country?
