Alaska | Icy Strait Point | Hoonah | Cannery | Royal Caribbean | Ovation of the Seas | Cruise | Transporter Gondola | Veteran's Memorial Sea Walk
There are plenty of shore excursions offered for those with a port day at Icy Strait Point. Those who prefer exploring DIY style have options as well. While there is a green gondola (the Transporter), making the most of a port day with a visit to the nearby town of Hoonah (the state's largest Tlingit village) does require either extensive walking on a flat paved path or a round trip shuttle bus ride at a cost of $10.00 per person.

The first port day on our northbound Alaskan cruise from Vancouver was at Icy Strait Point (Day 21). We walked from the port to the cannery area and then along the Veteran's Memorial Sea Walk to Hoonah and back again. Our step count for the day was just under 21,500 steps (our second biggest step day since leaving home).
