After two years of construction, the 135 stairs which linked Piazza di Spagna to Trinita dei Monti were completed in 1725. Commonly referred to as the Spanish Steps, La Scalinata di Trinita dei Monti has three tiers dedicated to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Don't miss seeing the fountain at the bottom of the steps and the Obelisk Sallustiano at the top!

Don't think we've ever missed climbing the Spanish Steps during a visit to Rome, and our last visit was no exception!

Fun fact: Since August of 2019, sitting on the Spanish Steps is illegal and is punishable by a 400€ fine.
