Wieskirche (Wies Church) is a UNESCO World Heritage recognized site located on Germany's Romantic Road. The church stands in the Bavarian hamlet of Wies between the towns of Steingaden and Wildsteig. Dating back to 1738, a large number of pilgrims traveled to Wies, the reported setting of a miracle. It was a wooden statue of Christ that was the draw, so the new Wieskirche was built between 1745 and 1754.

Our second morning stop on our full day tour was at Wies Church (Wieskirche) near Steingaden, Germany. Also on the Romantic Road, this church is a UNESCO World Heritage site. (Although it was difficult, we resisted the nearby pastries for sale!)
