Texas | Port O'Connor | Matagorda Bay | Gulf of Mexico | Colorado River | Lavaca River | Fishing | Texas Coast | Redfish | Trout | Flounder | Drum Fish
The Matagorda Peninsula is all that separates Matagorda Bay from the Gulf of Mexico, and the bay is also the mouth of both the Colorado and Lavaca Rivers. When you ask Texas fisherfolk where to go for some of the best fish catching in the state, Matagorda Bay often makes one of the top few spots on their lists. Redfish, trout, flounder and drum fish are among those caught in the bay.

What's your favorite type of seafood?
Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate as much as we had hoped during our trip to the Texas coast. The forecast predicted rain during every day of our four day stay. We jumped at the first opportunity that we had so as not to miss out. Our friends packed up their boat with their fishing poles and other fishing gear and off we went. Getting to the dock was a really short drive, so we were riding on the boat across Matagorda Bay in no time.
